March 6, 2018 @ 6pm
Sandy Fisher and her husband Durl Van Alstyne have been working for 5 years with the concept of growing flax in Northern California. Through trial and error, they will share their experiments on growing quality flax in a time of drought, have information about an upcoming workshop on how to process flax for spring, and will also will have seeds for sale.
Sandy Fisher is the co-founder of Chico Flax, a business working to bring the Flax industry to Northern California for the production of flax into linen. She is a fiber artist and owner of Sandy Fisher Woven, creating beautiful woven art for home and to wear. She is also an avid bicyclist.
A retired educator, Durl Van Alstyne is co-partner in Chico Flax. Having grown up in an Agricultural family, he is focusing on regenerative Agriculture practices through carbon sequestering and no tilling practices Chico Flax.
Home for the members of Chico Community Guilds, Chico Guild Hall also serves as a hub for like-minded organizations that need a welcoming facility.
